New Scandinavian Design

Aquatique — designed to be both stylish and functional, drawing inspiration from the timeless designs of the past while incorporating modern technology and materials.

The design.

When designing Aquatique, I drew inspiration from the past while incorporating elements of modern watch designs. In homage to vintage dive watches, I sought to preserve their essence by opting for a smaller case diameter and shorter lug-to-lug dimensions, typical of that era. Resulting in a lug-to-lug measurement of 43.5mm, a case diameter of 37.4mm, achieving the perfect size and fit.

As Aquatique is designed as a diver's watch, I set a water resistance criteria of at least 200m without compromising on thickness. Striving for versatility beyond diving situations, we achieved a slim profile of 12.20mm, including the top hat sapphire crystal.

And finally, to fully embody the vintage-inspired dive watch spirit, I incorporated a domed sapphire bezel into the design, drawing inspiration from the iconic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms bakelite bezel.

The dial.

When designing the dial, my aim was to embrace the vintage vibe, finding inspiration in the iconic Omega Seamaster 300 diver watch. Vital for a diver's watch is readability, especially in low-light conditions.

This led to a sunburst dial adorned with polished triangle markers, brushed on top, and filled with Super-LumiNova C3, ensuring easy timekeeping even in the dark. The painted numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 contribute to a classic aesthetic.

The movement.

When selecting the movement for Aquatique, I had one certain criteria in mind. My priority was to ensure high quality and reliability, known and respected not only by the general public but also by watchmakers. It was essential for me to choose a mechanical movement to meet these standards. By doing so, I aim to make servicing your watch hassle-free and allow you the freedom to select any watchmaker of your preference for maintenance.

Based on these criteria's I chose to equip Aquatique with the Miyota 9039 movement. The Miyota 9039 movement is a high-quality, reliable choice for watchmakers, known for its exceptional quality, reliability, and durability. With a balance wheel that oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers precise timekeeping and its durability ensures that your watch will stand the test of time, becoming a faithful companion in your everyday adventures.

The crystal.

In recreating the 1960s divers watch look, the selection of a top hat crystal is paramount. This crystal design is essential for achieving the characteristic 'wobble' vintage charm when viewed from the side. With its gracefully domed shape, it not only adds a touch of nostalgia but also reinforces the watch's resilience, guarding against cracks and breaks for enduring visual appeal.

The bezel.

The sapphire domed bezel is more than just a part of the watch; it symbolizes resilience, elegance, and a profound connection to the legacy of iconic dive watches. Each glance at your wrist immerses you in the beauty of Aquatique's design philosophy — a journey through time that combines the best of the past with the innovation of the present.

The luminescence.

Aquatique proudly feature the finest modern luminescence: Super-LumiNova®. Crafted from non-radioactive strontium aluminate, it outshines zinc-sulphide lume with a brightness that is ten times superior, ensuring effortless timekeeping even in low-light conditions. The bezel indexes, inner rail and applied markers are all featuring Super-LumiNova® BGW9, that guarantees a long-lasting 'afterglow' throughout the lifetime of the watch.
