The Design.

When designing the Aquatique, I drew inspiration from the past while incorporating modern elements to create a versatile timepiece. In homage to vintage dive watches, I sought to preserve their essence by opting for a smaller case diameter and shorter lug-to-lug dimensions, typical of that era. Resulting in a lug-to-lug measurement of 43.5mm, a case diameter of 37.4mm, achieving a harmonious balance between classic charm and modern comfort.

The Aquatique is crafted to be more than just a diver's watch; it transitions seamlessly from deep-sea adventures to everyday wear and even formal occasions. Its slim profile, with an overall thickness of 12.20mm including the top hat sapphire crystal, ensures both elegance and practicality.

To further embody the vintage-inspired spirit, I incorporated a domed sapphire bezel, drawing inspiration from the iconic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms bakelite bezel. These design choices not only pay homage to classic dive watches but also ensure that the Aquatique remains a timeless and adaptable piece in any collection.

The Dial.

When designing the dial for the Aquatique, my aim was to balance functionality with timeless style, drawing from classic principles of legibility and aesthetic simplicity. Each element was carefully chosen to ensure the watch is easy to read and looks elegant under any circumstances. By blending traditional watch design values with modern aesthetics, the dial respects the past while embracing the present.

Ultimately, the dial is crafted to be as practical in its readability as it is appealing in its design, serving equally well as a functional tool and a fashion statement.

This approach led to the creation of a sunray dial, to enhance visual depth and readability. The dial features polished triangle markers, thoughtfully brushed on top to reduce glare, and filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9 for clear visibility in low light conditions. Additionally, painted numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 enhance the dial's classic appeal.

The Movement.

When selecting the movement for the Aquatique, I had certain criteria in mind. My priority was to ensure high quality and reliability, something respected not only by the general public but also by watchmakers. It was essential for me to choose a mechanical movement that would meet these standards. By doing so, I aim to make servicing your watch hassle-free and give you the freedom to choose any watchmaker you prefer for maintenance.

Based on these criteria, I chose to equip the Aquatique with the Miyota 9039 movement. The Miyota 9039 is a high-quality, dependable choice, known for its precision, durability, and widespread serviceability. With a balance wheel oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers precise timekeeping and long-term reliability, ensuring your watch remains a faithful companion in your everyday adventures.

To complement the movement, the rotor has also been upgraded with a custom Côtes de Genève finish, adding a refined aesthetic touch while maintaining the same high level of performance.

The Crystal.

In recreating the 1960s divers watch look, the selection of a top hat crystal is paramount. This crystal design is essential for achieving the characteristic 'wobble' vintage charm when viewed from the side. With its gracefully domed shape, it not only adds a touch of nostalgia but also reinforces the watch's resilience, guarding against cracks and breaks for enduring visual appeal.

The Bezel.

The sapphire domed bezel is more than just a part of the watch; it symbolizes resilience, elegance, and a profound connection to the legacy of iconic dive watches. Each glance at your wrist immerses you in the beauty of Aquatique's design philosophy — a journey through time that combines the best of the past with the innovation of the present.

The Lume.

The Aquatique features Super-LumiNova® BGW9, ensuring effortless timekeeping even in low-light conditions. On the Marine Blue variant, the bezel indexes, inner rail, and applied markers are all coated with Super-LumiNova® BGW9, guaranteeing a long-lasting 'afterglow' throughout the watch's lifetime.

The Bracelet.

When I set out to design the bracelet, I had a clear set of criteria in mind:

1. Stainless Steel Construction: The durability and classic look of stainless steel was a must.

2. Quick-Fly Adjustment: This feature was essential for comfort and the ability to adjust the fit over a wetsuit easily.

3. Solid Buckle with Push Lock: For convenience and secure fastening, a solid buckle with a push lock was necessary.

4. Slim Design: To complement the smaller dimensions of the watch, the bracelet had to have a slim profile.

5. Female End Links: These were crucial for a better fit and seamless integration with the watch case.

These criteria guided the creation of a five-link bracelet that is 20mm wide, tapering to 16mm, featuring a quick-fly adjustment, a fully brushed buckle with a push lock, and female end links. The result is a bracelet that balances functionality, comfort, and style, perfectly matching the watch's design.

Great watch. Extremely comfortable bracelet. The bakelite style bezel is great. The dimensions are perfect. A sub 38mm diver is incredible.

Very good watch. The colour was better than I expected. Timekeeping is good, about 5 sec ahead in 24 hours.
